Diss Town manager Mark Reeve believes 30 points could be enough to see his side secure their league survival, despite the team they need to catch sitting just two points shy of that total.

The Tangerines sit second bottom in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table on 17 points and find themselves 11 points adrift of Wivenhoe Town in 17th, one place above the drop zone, after a run of back-to-back league defeats.

However, with those losses coming against high-flying Godmanchester Rovers (second) and Hadleigh United (fourth), Reeve is remaining confident of reaching his target and surpassing Town on the route to survival, starting at home against third-placed Stanway Rovers tomorrow (3pm).

“I’ve always said around the 30-point-mark would probably be enough, maybe sneaking just over that,” said the boss after seeing his side suffer elimination from the Norfolk Senior Cup following a 3-1 semi-final defeat to Ryman League Division One North outfit Dereham Town on Tuesday evening. “Teams around us have picked up some good results, but they were against teams they would expect to.

“I think our run-in is more favourable than those around us and in matches to come we have a chance to win all of them.

“I don’t think others have that opportunity and as long as we are in touching distance then there is always a chance.

“There’s a good chance teams around us will go on a run without picking up points, as could we, but I have faith we will get what we need to stay up.”
