Plenty of trophies at Diss GC
A hectic period of summer tournaments at Diss Golf Club has continued to be well supported by members.
Among those that recently took place was the Men’s Presidents Day competition, which was won by Alan Hughes.
He triumphed on countback with a return of 43 Stableford points, beating runner-up Spencer Humphrey-Moore.
Meanwhile, the Chris Maskell Trophy was won by Michael Lee Closs on countback with an excellent score of 41 Stableford points.
Runner-up – also with 41 points – was Christopher Bartrum, with Barbara Millier’s return of 40 points making her the winning female.
The Bob Papaik Cup was won by Ken Bowman with a score of nett 70.
Closely followed in second place was Christopher Castle on countback with nett 71 from Stephen Banks and Stephen Wells.
Among the Ladies’ recent competitions was the Ladies’ Seniors Cup.
This competition was set up a few years ago and the trophy was provided by member Ruth Ingram.
This year it was won by Patricia Galasinski on countback with an excellent score of nett 67, followed by Marie Needham in second.
Elsewhere at the club, the annual Junior Championship went the way of Luke Green with an excellent score of 75.
Runner-up four further back was Charlie Stammers with a gross score of 79.
Jay Turvey won the Championship Nett section with a very good score of 67, while in second place was Drew McNally with nett 70.
The Jill Driver Trophy (an eight-hole competition) was won by Max Hinton with a score of 21 Stableford points, closely followed in second place by Harry Burr with 20 points.
