Diss Otters pick up plenty of medals at their Open Gala at UEA Sportspark

Diss Otters held their annual Open Gala at the UEA Sportspark pool on Sunday, and the hosts were in medal-winning form.

The organisers were swamped with entries this year, with visiting clubs including the likes of City of Cambridge, West Norfolk, Thetford Dolphins, Great Yarmouth and Huntingdon Piranhas.

Nevertheless, despite having a vast amount of competition in the pool, the Otters still won a host of prizes.

In total the club bagged eight gold medals, 28 silvers and 19 bronzes courtesy of Noah Blair, Oslo Chapman, Daniel Bachu, Matthew Munnings, Max Ashken, Matthew Tatum, Jude Ashken, Ella Townsend, Grace Cook, Evie Kemp, Rosie Munnings, Thea Irvine, Lottie Gates and Shannon Evans.

In total the Otters had 47 swimmers in action, taking part in a total of 292 individual swims, which resulted in 101 top six finishes.

The club is hopeful of hosting more galas over the coming months in a bid to give more swimmers the opportunity to swim in a competitive environment.
