Diss Otters to host Springboard Gala in March

Diss Otters have confirmed that their inaugural Springboard Gala event – to be hosted at Diss Leisure Centre – will take place on Saturday, March 9.

This particular gala is specifically designed for novice and less experienced swimmers who are likely to be taking their first steps on the competitive swimming ladder.

A number of local clubs have been invited to take part in the competition and it is hoped that this will become an annual event in the Otters’ calendar.

And in a further boost, the club has been able to announce that opticians Dipple and Conway have agreed to sponsor the Springboard Gala.

The company’s operations director – Matthew Conway – said of the decision to get involved: “We are very happy to support the Otters.

“I used to swim in galas myself when I was younger and I really enjoyed the experience.”

Prior to that event taking place, Otters are likely to have members competing at the Warwick Thompson Memorial Gala in Thetford over the weekend of February 23-24.

That is followed a week later by the City of Norwich March Long Course Gala, which is set to be hosted at the UEA Sportspark in Norwich.
