Diss Otters excel at their Open Gala
There was plenty of reason for celebration among the Diss Otters swimmers after their own Open Gala at the UEA Sportspark last month.
More than 60 members from the club’s five squads took part in a host of races – ranging from 50m to 400m – alongside visiting clubs from City of Cambridge, City of Norwich, Lowestoft and Oulton Broad, Great Yarmouth and Norwich Swan.
From a total of 299 individual races the Otters brought home 75 medals (29 golds, 28 silvers and 18 bronze), together with a further 61 finishes between fourth and sixth place.
The swimmers from the hosting club – particularly those within the junior squads – also achieved an impressive quota of new personal best times, with 133 new marks set across the event.
