Norwich City fan Edwards Seaman says: Welcome signings have come at the perfect time

While there is no such thing as a bad time to make new signings, this week’s additions have come at a perfect moment for Norwich City.

After conceding nine goals in three straight defeats, the arrivals of Steven Naismith and Timm Klose have provided a timely boost heading into two difficult home matches.

I wrote before the window about what a good signing Naismith would be. The Scot is perfect to come in and battle for points as well as adding quality in the final third.

I have to admit I don’t know as much about Timm Klose, but having highlighted City’s recent defensive woes, I welcome the addition of a centre-half with Champions League experience.

Rewind a week and everything about the performance at Bournemouth was tepid. It was alarming to see how easily the team rolled over against a relegation rival.

Eddie Howe got his tactics spot on: press high, close down the midfield, win the ball back and then get at our full-backs, who look vulnerable from the word go.

Right-back inparticular is an area of concern and I’m looking forward to see Ivo Pinto, having been impressed with him when playing for Zagreb against Arsenal earlier on in the season.

For me, it leaves us needing one more; a striker who can play facing the goal, get the ball down and run at defenders.

In Cameron Jerome and Dieumerci Mbokani, we have two players well suited to the targetman role, but we need to add that intricate quality and technical ability which will complement their brute force.

Tomorrow, City make a welcome return to Carrow Road, taking on a Liverpool side who have lost three of their last four away games in the league without scoring.

Thankfully the days of Luis Suarez are over but under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds, as inconsistent as they have been, will work hard off the ball and it’s up to City to better that work rate – something they fell short of at Bournemouth.
