Norwich City fan Edward Seaman says: Faith is needed in the board to do what’s right

It’s fair to say it’s been a disappointing week for Norwich City but especially given the context of Wednesday night’s defeat at Stoke, it’s hard to be too critical.

The major frustration cannot be at the loss, or at the performance, but at a missed opportunity to pick up three points that could have moved us eight points clear of the drop-zone.

Gary O’Neil’s first-half dismissal was stupid and while he won’t need telling that, he let his teammates down after an opening half-hour in which victory looked there for the taking.

I’ve heaped praise on O’Neil this season as a catalyst for City’s recent form but in his moment of utter madness, the game got away.

The 10-men put up a credible fight, and boy did Jonny Howson’s thronker deserve to be more than a consolation, but ultimately it was just one of those nights.

However, as is football, we have no time to dwell on the defeat and must look forward to a proverbial six-pointer at Bournemouth tomorrow.

The sub-plot is in place, with Lewis Grabban I’m sure desperate to get one over on City after his messy divorce with the club finally drew to a conclusion this week.

It’s a risk selling to divisional rivals but in Grabban’s case, after all that has happened, the move benefits all concerned and it’s now up to City to keep him quiet come Saturday afternoon.

Bournemouth’s passing game is no secret and while they will dominate possession, City have shown to be very organised in recent weeks – and it’s this hard work without the ball where the game will be won or lost.

I want to end this week with a call for City fans to remain patient over the club’s transfer dealings. I’ve seen a lot of doom-mongering over the perceived lack of signings, and quite frankly it’s embarrassing.

I agree additions are necessary, but let’s continue to put our faith in David McNally and co to make the right decisions for this club – something they’ve done expertly over the years.
