Norwich City fan Ed Seaman says: Canaries have done the fans proud

Saturday was one of those when as a football fan it makes all the long journeys and defeats throughout a season worth it.

Beating Ipswich Town at Carrow Road to secure a place at Wembley; what could be better? (Apart from sealing the deal on Monday, of course).

I thought the first half agwas again a cagey affair, just like at Portman Road, as we wanted too much time on the ball. But as the space opened up in the second half, City’s key players started to find it and hurt Town.

Nathan Redmond was instrumental in all three goals and in that second half, he showed the devastating potential that has attracted Premier League clubs to his name.

He was quick, unpredictable yet also composed as he scored one and set up the other two, albeit needing a big hand from Christophe Berra for the first goal.

I think it is also worth mentioning that was Wes Hoolahan’s sixth win in seven matches against Ipswich, a quite sensational record, which is beginning to culminate in a generation of fans who do not know what it is like to lose the old enemy. However, it will all count for nothing unless we can beat Middlesbrough on Monday.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the corresponding league fixtures as for me, City are a totally different unit away from Carrow Road under Alex Neil and were unlucky not to pick up a result at home.

The big pitch at Wembley will suit City’s attacking unit and hopefully Wes and Redmond will be able to exploit the gaps, as they’ve been able to do time and time again.

That said, Boro are strong going forward and we will need the likes of Sebastien Bassong to stand up and produce another experienced performance. Whatever happens at Wembley, we can be proud of how far the boys have come under Alex Neil, so let’s head to London, sing our hearts out and make it a day we will never forget.

On the ball City!
