Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright’s quest for a first major darts title will continue this weekend at the Coral UK Open.
It has been a case of so near, yet so far for the Mendham thrower at the Minehead-based event over the last two years.
On both occasions Wright has reached the final, only to be beaten by world number one Michael van Gerwen.
However, he will not run in to the Dutchman this time around due to a back injury that has forced the favourite to withdraw.
Due to his position within the world’s top 32 players, Wright will not enter the competition until the best of 19 legs third-round stage at 7pm tonight.
