Ladies II 2
Harleston Magpies Ladies VIIs were narrowly defeated by table-topping Lowestoft Railway Ladies II.
The home side took the push back and managed to hang on to the ball for long periods in the first half until top of the league Lowestoft showed their muscle and swept play into the Harleston circle.
However, the Magpies held firm to keep their opponents at bay.
Emily Howland and Bex Pottruff battled hard for the ball while at the back, Karen Ray was stopping the Lowestoft forwards in their tracks.
Inevitably though the powerful away side broke down the Magpies from a passing shot.
The Magpies went in at half-time 1-0 down even though their great effort should have told a different story.
In the second half, Harleston came out in a more aggressive mood with fast paced attacks and strong passing moves, but, even with all of that, they still could not find a way through.
Lowestoft continued to dominate with multiple short corners but, despite this, the score remained only 1-0.
More brave defending from man of the match Hunt kept the home team in with a chance of getting something out of the game.
Throwing herself to ground countless times to deflect the ball away from the home goal, she seemed to be keeping Lowestoft from extending their lead.
But, once again, the home side’s effort changed to agony as Lowestoft managed to secure their second goal of the game.
After the final whistle was blown, Lowestoft were awarded a short corner and their whole team went on the attack against the home side’s goal to make sure the ball went in one last time.
Even with the continued heroics from Hunt, the team could not stop the final flow of the Lowestoft Ladies and the score ultimately ended 2-0.
