Katie Riches took a narrow lead in Harleston Junior Angling Club’s Summer Series standings after netting victory in the penultimate round at Weybread Club Pit.
With four different winners in the previous four competitions and a three-way tie for the league, things could not be tighter going into round five.
Katie Riches was first to weigh in from the main contenders with a fine net of hard fighting carp pulling the scales round to a excellent 51lb 4oz in just three hours fishing.
Next was Jack Farrow, who had been catching all night but of a smaller stamp his catch totalled 33lb 12oz which just left last week’s winner, Harry Elton, of the main contenders to weigh in.
His mixed catch of carp totalled 36lb 4oz for a well deserved second place behind Katie Riches, with Farrow in third place.
Maisy Riches settled for a fourth place finish with her haul weighing in at 18lb.
Katie Riches’ win leaves her on 76 points in the standings, just one clear of Farrow (75) with Maisy Riches third a further point behind (74) and Elton in fourth with 72 points ahead of the final round.
n Meanwhile, Harleston Juniors are hosting a free junior open event, the Ashford Cup, on Saturday, July 25 in the club pit at Weybread from 10am. For further information contact 01379853571 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
