Two hundred and forty-eight birds were sent to race from Eastbourne by the Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club last Saturday.
Steven Kaschner, a member of the club since its inception in the 1970s, took the first four positions from his lofts in Brockdish with a winning velocity of 1,640 yards per minute. Brian Brooks finished in fifth position with George and James Burrows sixth.
The Old Bird Loft Knockout final was a battle between two outsiders, with Glen Arterton beating Andy Hampton to lift the 2015 trophy. Tomorrow sees the last traditional Old Bird race of the season as the club flies from Pithiviers, in France.
