Five-year-old Wortham youngster shoots a par in unique Stonham Barns competition

A five-year-old Wortham golfer has won her age category at a unique golf event held at Stonham Barns, shooting a par three on her very first hole in the process.

The Stonham Junior Flag Tournament, now in its 15th year, attracted youngsters from the age of five to 14, with each player getting 36 shots to see how far around the course they can get

Imogen Potter, who joined the Stonham Junior Academy as a four-year-old, reached the sixth green, scooping the under-eight category prize.

Proud grandad Stephen told the Diss Express: “I could not believe it.

“When she hit the drive up there and it went just past halfway to the hole, and then hit a seven iron and shot just short of the green. When she putted into the hole I was just speechless.”

Other winners on the day included Stonham Barns player Soloman Westmancott, 12, who was victorious in the under-12 category, reaching the eighth fairway.
