Diss Golf Club held their annual ‘Drive in’ event to welcome the new captain for the season.
Ken Bowman, (club captain), Jane Fishwick (lady captain), Julian Scopes (seniors captain) and Josh Driver (junior captain), took to the course in wet and blustery conditions and all succeeded in playing excellent shots, with the pick coming from driver at 271 yards.
The drive in was preceded by the Watson (Spring) Cup, a Stableford shotgun start. 66 members braved the conditions, which were continually changing throughout.
Kerry Enever managed the course best on the day recording a superb 42 points to win the event outright, also winning the ladies’ ‘nearest the pin’ on the 15th hole.
Gary Worboyes also defied the elements to come in second with 40 points and drove a creditable third on 37 points. James Allen-Wright took the men’s ‘nearest the pin’ on the fourth hole.
Contributions on the day were made to the captains respective charities, Macmillan Cancer Support, Norfolk Renal Fund and M.I.N.D.
