Diss Golf Club recently held their annual Ladies Invitation Day where some 22 members invited players from other clubs to join them.
A field of 44 ladies played in a Stableford competition, followed by lunch in the clubhouse.
After the day’s play the winners were Katharine Allen (Diss) and Heather Wright (Bungay Golf Club) ahead of runners-up Sarah Gotts (Diss) and Rachael Goldsmith (Halesworth G olf Club).
Other recent ladies section results included Jane Izod (37 points) winning the Queen Mother Cup ahead of Marianne Haines (35 points) while Sandra Bowman (37 points) clinched victory in the Stableford Trophy ahead of Marie Needham.
n Meanwhile, the club held a mixed Stableford competition sponsored by estate agents Fine and Country.
With good weather conditions and the course playing superbly well, considering the dryness of the ground conditions, exceptional scoring was anticipated. No-one foresaw, however, the winner Jay Turvey’s destruction of the course, returning 51 points, 15 shots under his handicap.
Second, with a very impressive 42 points, was Caroline Grandjean and third, on 40 points, was Josh Halil.
