FA Cup match winner Bryn Mullen confident he can produce the goods for Diss Town
Bryn Mullen has revealed his pride at scoring the only goal of the game in Diss Town's 1-0 victory over Framlingham Town in the Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round on Tuesday evening.
The 19-year-old attacker, who joined the Tangerines from lower-league Wymondham Town in the summer, was making his first ever appearance in the world's oldest cup competition.
And he marked it in style, sliding the ball home in the 77th minute to end Diss' 13-game losing streak in the tournament.
"It's definitely a proud moment of mine to score the winner in a FA Cup game and it coming so late on made it it even better," he said.
Mullen was the joint second highest scorer in Division One of the Anglian Combination League last term – form that helped Wymondham sit clear at the top of the table when Covid-19 struck.
The jump up to play for Diss is significant, but he feels ready to make an impact as part of Michael King's new-look side.
"I feel like as a whole team we have made huge progression over the last few weeks," he added.
"Having come close to getting results against teams in higher leagues in our friendlies we could tell that all the hard work in training is paying off and the win on Tuesday has us feeling confident for the start of the league on Saturday.
"I’ve never had any doubts about being able to play at this level and I feel like I’ve joined the right club. The style of play the manger has set out suits me as well."
