Roy Johnson came out on top of a close fought battle to net victory in Diss Angling Club’s veterans match at Thornham.

Fishing on long pole and paste, Johnson bagged a mainly carp catch weighing in at 12lb.6oz to narrowly pip Gordon Pearce, whose haul totalled 12lb.1oz.

Billy Crisp completed the top three places with a 11lb.3oz haul which included roach and skimmer on long pole and maggot.

Elsewhere, an impressive display from Colin Lea saw him come out as the clear winner of a pike match on the river Waveney in Hoxne.

Lea bagged a host of roach weighing in at 21lb to finish way ahead of second placed Mark Johnson whose catch weighed in at 6lb.14oz.
