Ipswich Town column: Blues deserved to win against Manchester United and good performances have to start turning into wins
We've been waiting a while to see Town face Manchester United at home and after 22 years this game didn't disappoint.
I thought it was a brilliant spectacle. An entertaining game of football and showed Portman Road to the world in a very good light.
I guess the only negative was the fact that the Blues weren't able to clinch, what for me, would've been a very deserved three points.
We were excellent. Showing a far better attitude and hunger to win than our opposition, who were somewhat disappointing on the day.
The trouble is, you could say that's now four games at home where Town have played well, been the better team, and deserved to win - but haven't.
Fulham at home was the same, as was Aston Villa and Leicester, and now Manchester United. If we are to stay up, we'll do so by playing well and giving teams a right go of course, but we have to start finding those goals which will get us over the line.
I saw someone write the other day how Ipswich Town were the 'best bad team they'd seen this season' alluding to the fact that we look good every time you watch us, yet are 18th in the league.
I'd probably agree with that. Aside from Manchester City and the debacle away to West Ham, Kieran McKenna’s men have more than held their own in this division.
That said, I think if you'd said to any Ipswich fan that going into December we'd be outside of the relegation zone only by goal difference, we may have taken it.
Speaking of December and particularly the Christmas period, Santa hasn't been very nice to us there has he? What a set of fixtures that is.
Before that comes, I believe there are more than winnable games against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth and before that, this weekend's trip away to Nottingham Forest.
Forest have had an excellent start, but how long can they keep it up for?
I expect an entertaining game and think we could get a similar scoreline to that of our game with Brentford - hopefully in our favour this time.
