Injury time strike helps Diss to salvage a point against Reserves
THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE
Diss Town 1
Kings Lynn Town Reserves 1
An injury time strike helped Diss Town snatch a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at home in the First Division against King’s Lynn Town Reserves.
Having been defeated 5-2 in the corresponding away fixture back in October, Diss knew they had to put in a better performance this time round.
There was little action in first half but the visitors got their noses in front in the 72nd minute.
The breakaway occurred after a handball decision was not given by the referee leading to strong protests from the Tangerines, with the goal coming from Karl Tansley.
However the Tangerines did force an equaliser in injury time to share the points after Kings Lynn’s captain James Spittlehouse was given his marching orders in the 94th minute.
Danny Self got the ball over the line after a number of Diss shots had been blocked to give the home side a much deserved point.
Diss: Izod, Walpole (Hood 58), Gibbons, Gilding, Barrett, Greenslade, Armes, Self, Manning, George (Page 85), Olpin (Downes 58).
Substitutes not used: Powley, Norman.
n Diss Town Reserves were narrowly beaten by Woodbridge Town Reserves in their Thurlow Nunn Reserve League match.
For both teams it was the second time in three weeks they had met. This was another close game that was settled midway through the second half.
Woodbridge took the lead in the 65th minute but Diss responded strongly from the setback.
Dexter Riches coming close to levelling the scores but he was denied by Stronge after a fine pass from Watkinson in the 83rd minute.
