Debenham LC 2

Debenham LC halted a three match winless run to get back on track in the First Division with a 2-0 win away at Dereham Town Reserves.

After a goalless first half in which Ben Green, Rob Kemp and Jack Seccombe spurned opportunities for the visitors, Dereham almost opened the scoring immediately after the break but Steve Fenner denied Lewis Gibson.

Debenham finally broke the deadlock after 67 minutes as Green’s cross found Kemp to head past the goalkeeper.

That momentum continued with the Hornets, who created further chances with Tom Fenner flashing a header narrowly wide of the post.

Debenham introduced Sam Quinton into proceedings for his debut after 73 minutes and it was not long until the attacker made an impact to double the score just three minutes later.

Shaun Thorrold’s powerful drive was well saved by goalkeeper Sam Palmer but he could only palm the ball into the path of Quinton, who made no mistake with the follow-up to seal the victory.

n The Hornets made it back-to-back victories with a 1-0 win over Stowmarket Town on Tuesday night, courtesy of Ben Golding’s solitary strike.
