Having been without their rugby fill since March, supporters of Diss are likely to be able to see their side back in action before Christmas.

The finer details are still to be arranged but the Blues are hopeful of being able to host West Norfolk over the course of next weekend.

The King’s Lynn-based club will travel to Mackenders for a senior fixture and an under-18s match, both of which will be played under the necessary regulations to bring them in line with current RFU guidelines.

After Christmas, the club is also planning to arrange a number of friendly games, predominantly against Norfolk opposition.

Head coach Nick Greenhall said: “We’ll have all the conditions in place for the West Norfolk games with things like scrums and line-outs.

“It will be great to get some rugby played before Christmas.

“After that will be organising a batch of friendlies, mostly against Norfolk clubs.

“There may be one or two matches against sides from Suffolk or elsewhere, but we don’t want to be travelling too far.

“All of this is a massive weight off our shoulders and now we feel like there is some light at the end of the tunnel. We are all looking forward to being able to get back out on the pitch.”
