Hawks swoop to victory
Diss Hawks Under-14s defended their Norfolk FA Summer Cup title with a convincing display of tournament football at the Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe on Saturday.
With six teams in the group and the top four qualifying for the semi-finals Diss knew they should progress after two early comfortable victories over Costessey A and Costessey B.
However, they slipped up in their third match against an extremely physical Caister Roma A side, going down to a 2-0 defeat.
But they bounced back in style, winning their remaining two games in positive fashion against Caister Roma B and Waveney Jags.
With all of those results, Diss topped the group and went into a semi-final against fourth-placed Waveney Jags, which they duly won 4-0.
With Caister A beating Caister B in the other semi-final, it set up the chance for the Hawks to gain revenge for their defeat in the group stages.
The final saw a completely different game with Diss dominating possession.
Goals from Will Aldrich, Matthew Munnings and Ethan Kerswill saw the Hawks storm into a 3-0 advantage and despite Caister pulling a goal back, it proved too much of a task to overhaul the deficit.
