Harleston show no mercy in devastating demolition
Harleston Town showed no mercy to struggling Wroxham Reserves as they hit seven without reply to wrap up an emphatic 7-0 victory at home in Almary Green Anglian Combination Premier Division.
The home side started strongly and opened the scoring after just eight minutes as a Brendan Burkes corner was powerfully headed home by Sam Watts.
Richard Brett, Chris Hall and Ryan London all went close to doubling the tally before a second goal was added after 20 minutes through Brett’s cool finish.
At the other end Rob Goodwin was called into action with a smart save before the game was made safe with quick-fire third and fourth goals for Town courtesy of Brett and a superb first-time finish from Burkes.
Any hopes of an unlikely Wroxham comeback were dashed five minutes after the restart as Chris Hall crashed home a spectacular fifth goal for Harleston with a venomous 20-yard strike.
That momentum continued with Hall adding a sixth after good work from Howell, before the latter wrapped up proceedings with a close range header.
