Harleston Town sign former Dereham Town, Wroxham and Norwich CBS midfielder Adam Smith as Nathan Russell departs for Kirkley & Pakefield

Harleston Town have completed the signing of midfielder Adam Smith, who becomes Danny Crow’s first incoming of the summer.

The former Dereham Town and Wroxham player joins the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division outfit after making 27 appearances for First Division North side Norwich CBS last campaign – in which he scored two goals.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Magpies boss Crow said: “Smudger (Smith) comes in with a huge amount of experience and having a player like Adam within the squad will help us push on this season.”

Harleston finished sixth in the Premier Division table last season, four points off the play-off places, in a campaign that Crow deemed ‘a failure’.

Meanwhile, long-serving attacker Nathan Russell has departed the club after eight years with the Magpies and has joined fellow Premier Division outfit Kirkley & Pakefield as a player-assistant manager.

The 28-year-old made more than 200 appearances for Harleston and was part of promotion-winning campaigns in 2017/18, 2020/21 and 2021/22.
