Harleston hit for six
ENGLAND HOCKEY LEAGUE MEN’S CONFERENCE EAST
Harleston Magpies 0
Harleston Magpies endured a disastrous afternoon at Teddington as they were hit for six in a comprehensive defeat.
Harelston were with out both talismanic midfielders Stuart Leate and Matt Riches through injuries but they did welcome back Andy Hipwell and Archie Winter.
Magpies made the worst possible start as a long searching ball found a Teddington forward unmarked at the top of circle, despite recovering defenders forcing the forward wide he still managed to find a cool calm finish into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.
This rocked Harleston’s confidence following their crushing defeat the previous weekend.
Harleston continuously turned the ball over which resulted in fast counter attacking hockey from Teddington, on one such attack Teddington won a corner which was dispatched low and hard to John Living’s bottom right hand corner.
Thank fully Harleston found some composure and managed to see out the half without conceding any further goals.
The away team started to create a couple of chances themselves but were unable to convert.
Player coach Ben Wright asked for composure at the start of the second of the second half so that we could get a platform to build on.
Again however Harleston made the worst possible start as they shipped two early goals.
The first coming from the dreaded death pass in midfield and the second when the Harleston defence failed to clear their lines.
Harleston did start to fight but, in what is a familiar tale for the season, Harleston had left themselves too much to do and, looking to get back into the game, they conceded two further goals as the home side wrapped up proceedings.
