Golding bags three for the Hornets in a 6-0 thrashing
Debenham LC hit Leiston Reserves for six to climb back into the promotion places of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division on Saturday.
Stuart Reavell’s side were without a win in their last four matches heading into their trip to Victory Road, but made a good start when Robbie Kemp found the target early on for the visitors.
Shaun Thorrold’s cross found Luke Austin to slide in Debenham’s second, and his first in the yellow and black shirt.
Reece Golding made it 3-0 with a powerful shot as the Hornets took a commanding lead into the break.
Golding got his second shortly after the restart, lobbing the Leiston goalkeeper before nodding the loose ball into an empty net.
Thorrold quickly pounced on the rebound from his saved effort, and set-up Golding for his hat-trick and Debenham’s fifth goal of the afternoon.
Substitute Steve Fenner thumped the ball home to make it 6-0 to the Hornets who, thanks to Great Yarmouth Town and Swaffham Town sharing a goalless draw, moved back into third place.
Reavell’s side travel to Haverhill Borough tomorrow (3pm).
