Kumo Judo Club’s Niamh Southgate picked to represent Great Britain at European Cadet Championships

Kumo Judo Club’s Niamh Southgate has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Cadet Championships in Poland next month.

The 14-year-old has become the third member of the Lopham and Diss-based club to receive the call-up after Colin Oates and Jono Drane.

News of her selection follows yet another all-Southgate final at the Northern Irish Cadet Open in April in which Niamh edged out elder sister Eden in the final.

It means that the sisters have dominated the finals of the under 52k cadet category in the Scottish English and Irish Championships in 2019.

Niamh is only six weeks inside the age restriction and will be giving away some two to three years in age and experience when she heads to Warsaw to represent her country, with the tournament due to start on June 27 and last for four days.
