Frustrations for Findlay in Spanish season opener

History repeatied for Garry Findlay as his latest six hours of Barcelona-Catalunya was a similarly frustrating experience to his debut 12 months ago.

The Fressingfield-racer entered his second season in the VdeV sportscar series having been promoted to the role of senior driver in the CD Sport Norma-Honda team and showed his worth to qualify strongly on the Spanish Grand Prix track along with team-mate Ines Taittinger.

Having taken over from his team mate, Findlay moved the car up from 16th to 11th before a lack of reliability conspired to end his race well short of time, just as it had in 2014.

“I hadn’t even completed a lap before the car just died under me,” Findlay explained

Round two of the series takes place over six hours at the Mugello circuit in Italy over April 24-26.

n Porsche Carrera Cup of Great Britain reigning champion Josh Webster endured a mixed weekend as the new season got under way at Brands Hatch.

The 20-year-old from Mickfield, near Debenham, driving for Team Parker Racing, was forced to serve a penalty for starting out of position on the grid ahead of race one. But he recovered well to finish third in the second to leave him fifth overall.
