Success for Framlingham College Prep School at the Hockey IAPS East of England Finals

Framlingham College Prep School enjoyed success at the recent Hockey IAPS East of England Finals, with their Under-11 and Under-13 Girls’ teams securing their places at the upcoming National Championships.

Playing against some of the best teams in the region, the under-11s made a slow start to their campaign when a 3-1 defeat to Langley Prep was followed up by a 1-1 draw with Cambridge-based Perse.

However, they were sparked back into life by 2-0 wins at the expense of Bedford Modern School and Witham Hall.

They then saw off Littlegarth (2-1) and Bishop’s Stortford (5-0), before winning the final 1-0 against Orwell Park.

That saw them crowned East of England champions, with the medals handed out by former Framlingham pupils and current Harleston Magpies players Rose Winter and Lottie Summers.

The Under-13s also advanced through to the final after wins over Junior King’s Canterbury (3-0), Bishop’s Stortford (2-1), Beeston Hall Norfolk (4-0), Felstead (1-0) and Cambridge’s St Faith’s (1-0) in the semi-final.

But, King’s College Cambridge in the final proved to be a step too far as Framlingham lost out 3-0, having drawn 1-1 with the same opposition during the group phase.

Nevertheless, their status as runners-up has booked them a place in the Nationals on November 13, while the U11s take their turn on November 21.
