Stowmarket Town have signed Danny Cunningham following his departure from Ryman League Premier Division side AFC Sudbury.
The former Bury Town, Needham Market and Leiston man returned to Sudbury in March and helped them win the Ryman League Division One North title for the first time last season.
Cunningham had spent pre-season with the Yellows but at the weekend the club announced he would not be signing on for the 2016-17 season.
Stow have won the signature of the versatile player, who has played in a number of positions during his career, and goes straight into the squad for their Thurlow Nunn League First Division opener at home to Leiston Reserves tonight (7.45pm).
The Old Gold and Blacks have also confirmed the signing of ex-Hadleigh United and Felixstowe and Walton United striker Duane Wright, who is also in line to make his debut this evening.
Stowmarket manager Rick Andrews said of the two new recruits: “Danny was looking to play more local as he’s got a young family.
“We had a face to face and I told him the aspirations of the club and he saw the players who have signed for us already.
“We’ve put together a small squad this year but the players we’ve got are very versatile. Danny can play in centre midfield, left back or up top.
“Duane can also play in a few different positions and is someone who has been around for a long time.”
