THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION
Debenham LC 0
Diss Town 7
Diss Town took all the derby-day bragging rights after thumping neighbours Debenham LC 7-0 on Tuesday evening.
In a devastating opening 30 minutes the visitors found themselves 4-0 ahead with the points all but assured.
The first came after just eight minutes as a stray pass found Ben Fowkes on the halfway line, who raced clear before firing a low shot under the body of home custodian Sam Chilvers.
Just eight minutes later the Tangerines doubled their advantage as a flowing move saw Sam Page release Jamie George into the area who made no mistake, lashing a low right-footed shot into the bottom left corner.
Almost immediately the visitors added a third as George turned provider, working his way to the byline before drilling a low cross to Fowkes who beat his marker to the ball to fire home.
Refusing to rest on their laurels the visitors continued to pour forward and heaped yet more misery on the shell-shocked hosts before the half-hour mark with George grabbing his second, receiving the ball in space 25-yards out, before being allowed to turn and arrow a strike into the top left corner.
That momentum carried over into the second-half and after Joe Manning was denied by Chilvers early on, Diss added their fifth in the 55th minute.
It came from another well constructed attack as Self beat Chilvers to a through-ball into the area with the ball falling perfectly for the alert Fowkes to slot home into the empty net and complete his hat-trick.
That pressure continued and soon after the visitors added a sixth with George rounding Chilvers in the area before picking out Fowkes to score his fourth at the second attempt.
But the Tangerines were not finished there and completed the scoring after 67 minutes as captain Self picked up possession on the left-hand side of the area before lashing a strike beyond the reach of Chilvers and into the far right corner to wrap up a memorable victory.
