Experienced racer Adam Morgan joins EXECELR8 Motorsport-run Team VERTU line-up for 2025 British Touring Car Championship season following Restart Racing partnership announcement

The start of their 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season may still be more than four months away but things are certainly revving up for the EXCELR8-run team as they bid to go one better than last year’s runners-up spots.

An announcement was made in October that EXCELR8 – whose headquarters is at Brome, near Eye, while they now operate their BTCC racing team out of Droitwich, near Worcester – will evolve their name on the grid from Team Bristol Street Motors to Team Vertu to reflect the umbrella Vertu Motors Group. New liveries were unveiled including the addition of a prominent turquoise colour on the bonnet to replace the iconic dark blue which does remain in a flash strip above the headlights.

It was followed earlier this month with the news that EXCELR8 has entered into a multi-year collaboration with the Restart Racing team that will see two additional Hyundai i30 Fastback N cars join the BTCC grid for the 2025 season as part of a customer programme scheme.

And hot on the heels of the announcement of preparing cars for last season’s BTCC debutants – whose headquarters are in Colchester – comes the reveal of a new driver for their own team.

Experienced racer Adam Morgan has been confirmed as the third member of their Team VERTU line-up for 2025.

The 36-year-old from Lancashire joins the 2024 runner-up Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton in being in the driver team for the new season that will get under way at Donington Park over the weekend of April 26-27.

A team statement read: “Adam brings with him a wealth of experience in the BTCC having made his series debut back in 2012, earning his place on the grid as a prize for winning the Ginetta GT Supercup title a year earlier.

“After a character building debut campaign, Adam showed his potential in his second year on the grid, with his own family-run team taking over the running of his Toyota Avensis.

“Scoring his maiden podium finish on home soil at Oulton Park, Adam finished seventh in the standings before a hugely successful seven-year stint at the wheel of a Mercedes A-Class - which resulted in eight of his 11 BTCC wins, and 30 of his 42 podium finishes.

“Adam returns to front-wheel drive in the Hyundai after four years in BMW machinery, the last two of which have seen him running as part of the works entry into Britain’s premier racing series.”

Team VERTU’s three confirmed drivers have amassed more than 1,200 starts in the series, sharing 60 race wins and 199 podium finishes, meaning owner Justina Williams and her team will be able to call on more experienced behind the wheel than ever before, since joining the BTCC grid for the first time back in 2019.

And the team has wasted no time in getting preparations in the car under way, having already been able to complete four days of productive running at Anglesey in Wales with the Hyundai.

Morgan’s first opportunity to get behind the wheel of the car will come when pre-season testing resumes in the New Year.

Last year saw Williams’ team land second in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
