East Harling appoint ex-Diss Town defender Steve Best as new reserves manager

Former Diss Town defender Steve Best has been appointed the new manager of East Harling Reserves.

Best, who last season turned out for Attleborough Town’s second string, will be assisted in the role by Christian Wickham.

Speaking about the appointment of Best, who has also played for Mildenhall Town, Great Yarmouth Town and Horsham, first-team manager Stacey Lawrence said: “We’re really excited to have Steve on board. To be honest I was a little shocked when he was interested in taking the job.

“He’s got some top experience and is still a good footballer. He played for Attleborough Reserves last year and they play at a higher level than our side, so it shows he can still do it.

“He just felt it was the right time for him to step back from playing a little bit and try his hand at management.

“Our reserves have finished around sixth in the last few seasons but we are hoping they can push on under Steve and Christian.”

Having opted not to return to football when it restarted earlier this year after lockdown, East Harling will start pre-season training on June 8 at Church Road.

It will be two sessions a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and new players are welcome to attend.
