Diss Rugby Club's Vixens called up to Eastern Counties Under-18s squad
Diss Rugby Club are celebrating eight members of their Vixens youth set-up being selected for Eastern Counties Under-18s duty.
Megan Richardson, Bethany Robinson, Erin Freeman, Phoebe Clarke, Bee Johnston, Megan Stanley, Morgan Mooney and Mia Somers all caught the eye of selectors and recently featured in a game against a combined Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire side.
Diss director of rugby James Stanley said: “The growth in women’s rugby over the past decade has been phenomenal, and at Diss RFC we have been at the vanguard of regional development.
“Player numbers have grown year on year and the skills sets and fitness levels have improved immeasurably.”
“We are delighted for our U18s players who now represent the Eastern Counties. Their recent game was a fantastic experience for all those players. The coaching staff are brimming with pride at continued hard work and efforts bearing fruit.”
“The Vixens also have a number of players vying for an Eastern Counties spot at U15s level, with training and trails currently under way.
“The coaching team is hopeful of seeing Diss players in that group get regional experience.”
