Diss Cricket Club beat Horsford II in Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One encounter thanks to partnership between Daniel Taylor and David Tooke

An unbeaten 147-run partnership between Daniel Taylor and David Tooke guided Diss (182-3) to a seven-wicket victory over Horsford II (179) at Rectory Meadow last weekend.

After the early dismissals of Mark Williamson (2), captain Mark Brawn (4) and Lewis Taylor (8), Diss were struggling on 35-3 in their run chase.

But the combination of Taylor and Tooke then took centre stage to lead their team to a second victory of the new Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One campaign.

It was a patient contribution from Taylor, who finished unbeaten with 47 runs to his name from 99 deliveries.

Tooke, meanwhile, was the aggressor. He hit 14 fours and three sixes on his way to a score of 94 not out from only 79 balls.

Earlier in the contest, Daniel Taylor (2-34) had taken two Horsford wickets, as did Lewis Taylor (2-37) and Robert Lockwood (2-39), while there was also a wicket apiece for Williamson and new signing Charles Duckmanton.

Fifth-placed Diss will now go in search of back-to-back victories tomorrow afternoon when they make the trip to the coast to lock horns with Sheringham (12pm).

The home side currently sit second from bottom in the standings having lost two of their opening three fixtures.
