Diss Town remain 12 points adrift of safety in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division after slipping to a 2-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Stanway Rovers.

It was a fourth consecutive defeat for the Tangerines who remain second bottom in the table, having played two games more than some of their relegation rivals.

Meanwhile, Debenham LC moved a step closer to challenging for Suffolk Senior Cup glory after sealing their semi-final place.

The Hornets overcame Suffolk and Ipswich League-outfit Felixstowe Harpers United 4-3 on penalties after the match ended 1-1. Tom Fenner was on target for Debenham while Thomas Goddard was also dismissed.

In the rugby, Diss remain locked on the same points at the top of London Two North East after overcoming Norwich in a 36-7 success. The result leaves promotion rivals Diss and Chelmsford locked on 76 points.

Ipswich Town remain one place and one point outside the play-offs after failing to leapfrog sixth-placed Brentford.

Daryl Murphy’s 22nd goal of the season had the Tractor Boys in front at Portman Road early on, but Jonathan Douglas earned Brentford a point.
