NORFOLK JUNIOR CUP QUARTER-FINAL: Diss Under-13s 12 North Walsham Under-13s 5
Diss Under-13s moved a step closer to clinching Norfolk Junior Cup glory by booking their semi-final spot with victory over North Walsham.
However it was the visitors who started the match the brighter of the two sides, dominating the opening the 10 minutes as Diss struggled to get out of their own half.
And that prolonged period of pressure finally told as North Walsham opened the scoring with the first try of the match.
However, Diss responded to the setback and found a foothold in the game, piling the pressure on Walsham.
And they were rewarded for their endeavours shortly after as a fine team move saw SJ Cowling force his way over the line to level the scores before half-time.
That momentum continued with the home side after the interval as they continued to hassle North Walsham putting them under immense pressure in the opening moments of the second period.
But despite dominating a further break through looked unlikely until in the final five minutes Diss finally struck the decisive blow.
A good passage of build up resulted in Rory White crashing over to give Diss a 10-5 lead. Alfie Brydon’s boot proved reliable as he added the extra two points with his conversion attempt.
North Walsham attempted to respond in the final minutes of the match putting Diss under pressure but the home side managed to hold out to book their place in the final four of the competition.
