Diss remain top despite being held by rivals Norwich
Diss Rugby Club remain top of London Two North East after playing out a hard-fought 3-3 draw with rivals Norwich in a top-of-the-table clash.
Just three points separated the sides going into the encounter at The Mackenders but torrential rain and blustery conditions throughout hampered the game living up to pre-match expectations.
The home side enjoyed the greater possession in the first 40-minute period and deservedly took the most slender of leads into the interval courtesy of Phillip Le Lievre’s well taken penalty after seven minutes.
However, the visitors grew into the game after the break and got themselves level after 60 minutes with a simple penalty of their own in front of the posts.
Both sides squandered further penalty opportunities throughout the second half and conditions continued to hamper any chance of free-flowing rugby.
And although it was the home side who finished the stronger, neither side could find a further breakthrough as the rivals settled for a draw.
