Diss Cricket Club continue positive campaign with big Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One win at Great Melton

Diss (374-7) remain on the coat-tails of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One leaders following last weekend’s convincing 252-run victory away at Great Melton (122).

Batting first, Dan Taylor (70), James Harbour (43) and Lewis Taylor (42) all made useful contributions for the visitors.

However, it was Rob Tooke that was the stand-out performer with a century.

He scored a total of 118 runs from only 85 deliveries – an innings that featured 14 fours and a further five maximums.

Tooke is now up to sixth in the Division One run-scoring charts with 351, while team-mate Dan Taylor is ninth on 309.

All-rounder Dan Taylor (1-18) also took a wicket during Great Melton’s short reply, but it was the bowling performances of Mark Williamson and Rob Lockwood that wrapped up the victory for Diss.

Williamson (5-26) took a five-for alongside figures of 4-28 from Lockwood as Great Melton were bowled out in 27.1 overs.

Second-placed Diss, who are five points adrift of league-leading Hethersett & Tas-Valley, will go in search of a third straight victory tomorrow when they play host to Downham Stow II at Rectory Meadow (12pm).

The visitors currently occupy one of the two relegation places having recorded two victories from their eight outings.

This weekend’s encounter will mark the halfway point of the 2025 season.
