Diss Town Under-11s moved a step closer to league cup glory after clinching a 2-1 semi-final first leg victory over Thetford Independents in our match of the week.

In a tense affair the first-half ended goalless, mainly due to excellent displays from Diss goalkeeper Alex Dunseith and defenders Will Beale and Dylan Gardiner.

Diss started the second half brightly and came close to scoring as Matthew Munnings hit the post before William Cunningham’s rebound came crashing back off the bar.

The deadline was finally broken shortly after as Munnings drilled home from 12-yards out but Thetford hit back immediately to level with a well worked team goal.

However, Diss were not to be denied and with only two minutes remaining, Harvey Whymark slotted home to give his side a narrow advantage going into the second leg.

There was less success for Scole United Under-15s who suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Sprowston Under-15s.

After falling behind midway through the second half, Scole got back on level terms immediately as Dan Heffer received a pass from Ryan Scammell before lobbing the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Despite promising displays from Ellis Pullinger and Kieran Manning, they could not prevent defeat.

Diss Town Under-14s were forced to settle for a share of the spoils against Ipswich Valley Rangers White following a 1-1 draw.

Diss broke the deadlock when a long throw from Charlie Bowen was flicked on by Lucas Whittlington for Archie Hewitt to slot home from close range.

Alex Chittock, Tim Hurtley, Aidan Boosey, Ralph Slaney, Dane Potter, Kieran Allen and Charlie Crawford also impressed but Rangers levelled with 10 minutes left.

There was disappointment for Diss Hawks Under-13s who suffered a 3-1 semi-final league cup defeat to Brandon Town.

After falling a goal behind in the first-half, Aaron Noller struck to bring Hawks level. Nathan Channell, Oliver Hunt and Jacob Ready all worked hard, but Brandon regained the lead before extending their advantage late on.

Scole United Under-11s cruised to an emphatic 4-0 victory away at Costessey.

Scole put themselves in a commanding position at the break with goals from Ewan Johnson and Brad Potter.

That pressure continued after the break with the visitors’ Johnson and Potter doubling their tallies.

There were also strong showings from Mackenzie Manning, Alfie Cobbold, James Taylor, Joseph Boardman, Alfie Chenery, Jimmy Ellwood and Brad Hunt.
