Diss Cricket Club move second in Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One table after home win over Cromer

Diss (232-3) have moved up to second position in the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division One standings following last weekend’s seven-wicket home victory over Cromer (229-6).

Bowling first after losing the toss at Rectory Meadow, Diss were unable to bowl out their visitors during the allotted 50 overs.

However, they still managed to keep things relatively tight with Rob Tooke (2-42), Dan Taylor (1-43), Charles Duckmanton (1-47), and Charlie Turner (1-23) among the wickets, while there was also a run out from captain Mark Brawn to dismiss Tom Davies for 30.

And in reply, Diss went on to reach their target with three and a half overs to spare.

In-form all-rounder Dan Taylor (52) scored another half century alongside decent contributions from brothers Rob (36) and David Tooke (33).

But the mainstay of Diss’ successful run chase was opener Mark Williamson, who carried his bat to finish unbeaten on 89 runs from 132 deliveries – an innings that featured 11 fours.

Having recorded their fourth triumph from five outings in 2025, Diss are now just two points adrift of table-topping Hethersett & Tas-Valley.

And by chance, Diss will have the chance to leapfrog the leaders on Saturday afternoon when they travel to face them at the Tas-Valley Cricket Ground (12pm).

Like Diss, Hethersett & Tas-Valley have won four of their five fixtures this term.
