Diss Golf Club member James Biggs heads to Spain in preparation for 2019 season
James Biggs is confident that his ongoing warm-weather training stint has given him a head start in his pursuit of a successful 2019 campaign.
The last year has been one to remember for the Diss Golf Club member, who won a host of trophies, including the coveted Lagonda Trophy – a title previously lifted by former world number ones Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.
He has spent the previous six weeks at La Manga in Spain, taking advantage of the sunny conditions to further hone his golfing skills.
And while he is yet to set any major targets for next year, Biggs believes his time abroad will prove to be beneficial.
“This is the first year I have done this and it is just to get ahead of schedule for next year,” said the Suffolk Amateur champion.
“There is stuff here that I just cannot do at home, particularly at this time of year.
“There is a short-game area, three courses with plenty of variation and good facilities all-round.
“At this time of the year back home you are playing in six or seven layers and it is tough to get going, whereas in Spain I am playing a t-shirt.
“I have not set any real goals yet for next year, but this is all about getting the best preparation I can so that when the competitions come around I am ready and hopefully also a better player for it.”
