Diss duo secure top spot
There was cause for celebration at Diss Golf Club earlier this month when two of its members returned victorious from the Suffolk County Ladies Coronation Foursomes event.
The 27-hole medal tournament, which was held at Newton Green Golf Club, pitted 22 pairs from eight different clubs throughout the county against each other.
And, despite some stiff competition, it was the Diss pairing of Sarah Gotts and Kerry Enever that came out on top.
The pair, who are currently the club’s the ladies’ captain and vice-captain respectively, got off to a positive start during the 18-hole morning session with nett score of 69.
That was backed up in the afternoon session with a return of 37.5 points over the course of the nine holes, giving them an overall winning score of 106.5.
The runners-up were the Bury St Edmunds team of Judith Byford and Elizabeth Bezance, who carded a total of 110 points.
* Diss captain Dave Mould hosted his Charity Day on July 14, when a total of £1,400 was raised for his good cause – Autism Anglia.
Despite the intense heat, all of the players on the course managed to finish their rounds and the overall winner of the Stableford competition on the day was Phil Turvey, followed by runner-up Barbara Millier.
Sandra Bowman, meanwhile, finished up in third position.
