Diss’ drop fears worsen as they suffer another defeat
THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE
PREMIER DIVISION
Diss Town 0
Stanway Rovers 2
Diss Town remain 12 points adrift of safety after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at home to promotion-chasing Stanway Rovers on Saturday.
The Tangerines found themselves behind after eight minutes as Daniel Slater fired a low strike beyond the reach of Matt Powley.
The home side suffered another blow in the 21st minute when centre-half Ben Lewis was forced off with injury.
And their misery was extended further in the 33rd minute when Paris Tawizana scored from close range to double Rovers’ advantage.
Their task was then made harder before the break as Kyle Downes was dismissed following an altercation on the ground with a Stanway player.
The second-half started off badly for the home side as they also lost captain Jacob Brown through injury, while Stefan Gilding also picked up a knock.
And with all the setbacks, Diss struggled to put pressure on Stanway who played out the remainder of the match to secure victory.
n There was disappointment for Diss Under-18s, who suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Felixstowe and Walton United in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League Central Division.
