Diss B 120-3 beat

Mellis 116-9

by seven wickets

Diss B grabbed the bragging rights after enjoying a comfortable victory over neighbours Mellis in Division Four South West.

With the weather threatening to have a say on the outcome of the match, the two captains agreed to reduce the match to 30 overs and thus take three extra points each.

Diss won the toss and elected to field. Dan Taylor and Will Ward both removed the openers and when Taylor removed Warboys, so Mellis were left at 10-3.

Australian Spence (43) decided to up the anti with five sixes before a wonderful one handed catch from Ward on the boundary brought his innings to a close. Goodge (28) scored useful runs as no other batsman reached double figures. Taylor 3-17 and Ward 4-30 were the pick of the bowlers.

In reply, Lewis Taylor batted with ease and his confidence grew as he dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground.

James Skilleter (8) was the first to depart with the score on 72. Andy Paine (26) continued the scoring as the dark clouds loomed. Taylor was eventually out for 70 and with the scores tied, Stuart Taylor hit a boundary to ensure the win and an extra batting point.
