Diss athletes continue strong form

Diss Athletics Club members continued their recent strong form with a host of personal best performances in the East Anglian League.

In the Under-13 boys’ category, Douglas Charles ran 42.3 seconds in the 200m, threw 8.05m in the javelin and secured a personal best (pb) of 3.56m in the shot, while Under-13 girl Emily Darrell ran the 800m in three minutes and 02 seconds.

In the Under-15 boys’ category, Edward Darrell ran the 800m in 2.21.2, Guy McGarr ran a personal best of 14.5 seconds in 100m and jumped 8.72m in the triple jump, while Theo Sloos enjoyed a promising debut in the 1500m.

Under-15 girl Daisy Charles ran a personal best on 15.6 seconds in the 100m and 35.7 seconds in the 200m.

In the Under-17 boys Ben Charles ran a two minutes and 53 seconds in the 800m, threw a pb of 18.23m in discus and a pb of 30.15m in the javelin.

Also competing in the same age group, Marcus Purnell ran 13.7 seconds in the 100m and 29.3 seconds in the 200m, while William Sait, ran 63.3 seconds in the 400m, 28.5 seconds in the 200m and jumped 4.41m in the long jump.

In the senior men’s event, Owen Dorling, threw 21.11m in the javelin and a threw a pb of 20.88m in the hammer, Jacques Marshall, threw 6.46m in the shot and 19.96m in the discus and Gordon Coe, ran a pb of 21.3 seconds in the 110m hurdles and threw 9.97m in the shot.
