Debenham too strong for visiting March Town

March Town United 0

Debenham LC got back to winning ways with an impressive victory over March Town United, despite seeing Gavin Flurrie sent off.

After a bright start in which Luke Austin fired over in the opening minutes, the Hornets finally broke the deadlock midway through the half.

Marcus Josiah found Shaun Thorrold who in turn picked out the on-rushing Steve Fenner who calmly fired the ball into the bottom right corner.

However, the hosts’ task was made harder moments later as for the second week running Debenham were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Flurrie.

But despite the setback the home side started the second half in the ascendency and came close to adding to their tally with Fenner firing just wide.

And their endeavours were ultimately rewarded as a fortuitous own goal doubled their advantage before Sam Diaper capped off a spirited display with a third to seal all three points.

Debenham travel to Ipswich Valley Rangers tomorrow in the Suffolk Senior Cup (3pm) before hosting Team Bury in the league on Tuesday (7.45pm).
