Debenham LC throw away two-goal leads in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North and Knockout Cup
Debenham LC opened up two-goal leads on Saturday and Tuesday, but ended up winning neither encounter.
At the weekend in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North, goals from Lamell Howell and Bradley Austin put the Hornets in the ascendancy against Cornard United.
However, Kade Ivatt struck twice for the visitors, who also hit the post three times over the course of the match.
Meanwhile, Leon Moore’s team exited the First Division Knockout Cup to Leiston Reserves on penalties three days later.
Jake Conway and Matt Poxon put Debenham in the ascendancy within the opening 19 minutes, but once again they were pegged back before going on to lose 3-1 from the spot.
Debenham travel to Achilles in the Suffolk Senior Cup tomorrow (2pm).
* Goals from Connor Green, Lawrence Cheese and Nathan Stone could not prevent league-leading Harleston Town from losing for the first time since the opening day of the season at Swaffham Town.
The 4-3 defeat to the Pedlars, who have beaten Harleston twice this term, has cut their advantage at the summit to 10 points.
A home derby with Diss Town is next on the agenda for Adam Gusterson’s team tomorrow (1.30pm).
* Diss go into that contest on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Downham Town.
Matthew Calvert’s 65th-minute strike did the damage and inflicted a fourth defeat in five league outings for the Tangerines.
The result has left Diss fourth from bottom in the table, having collected just 13 points from a possible 42.
* In the Premier Division, Framlingham Town won for the first time since early October as they recorded a 2-0 home victory over Norwich United.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes at Badingham Road, but second-from-bottom Framlingham put that right in the second half thanks to goals from Simon Poacher and Danny Smith.
That was followed on Tuesday by the club’s first ever appearance in the Suffolk Premier Cup, which ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brantham Athletic.
Sam Cole scored the only goal of the tie to send his side through to the quarter-finals.
The Castlemen will be away at Godmanchester Rovers tomorrow (3pm).
