Felixstowe & Walton United coach Alex Egelton is new Debenham LC assistant manager
Debenham LC boss Guy Hayes has added to his coaching staff with the appointment of Alex Egelton as assistant manager.
Egelton has joined the club from Felixstowe & Walton United, where he had spent the previous three years as part of the reserves and first-team managerial set-ups.
For Hayes, Egelton’s arrival will provide some touchline support following the departures of Martin Westcott (player-assistant) and Stuart Reveall (coach) early on in their 2019/20 campaign.
Long-serving player Kevin Barker stepped up to help Hayes and while he will continue to be a part of the managerial team, he will also still be playing.
Hayes said: “Alex has had a few roles at Felixstowe, which is a big club in the area.
“One of the things that appealed was the fact that he knows our league and knows the players. Sometimes when a person comes in fromoutside the league, it takes them a season to adapt.
“I spoke to a few people about the job, and some of them did not have experience of the league. That wasn’t a necessity, but it helps.
“Alex is also able to do some of the coaching. I am keen to keep doing that and be hands on, but knowing he can do it as well is a big plus.
“It will also allow Kevin to concentrate on playing. He has been great to bounce ideas off and make his own suggestions, but during a game he has to be focused on his responsibilities.”
