Debenham LC head coach Stuart Reavell is confident his side can still challenge for the Thurlow Nunn League First Division title despite the loss of top scorer James Heathcote.

The Hornets put themselves firmly back in the title hunt after halting a three match winless run with a hard fought 1-0 success over Great Yarmouth Town to leave themselves seven points adrift of leaders Saffron Walden Town.

And despite suffering the major blow of losing marksman Heathcote, who has netted 20 goals in 22 games this season, Reavell is adamant his side can continue the pursuit for honours starting with a visit of rivals Stowmarket Town on Saturday (3pm).

"James has left the club, I can't say anymore more on the matter," he said.

"Hopefully we now can take the momentum from the result against Great Yarmouth and really push on in the coming weeks.

"The confidence has been restored among the squad and although we have not set any targets we are certainly back in the mix.

"We had a point to prove on Saturday, we deserved the win and hopefully we can take that forward.

"I want to chase the top two down and we still have to play those teams around us at home where we are still unbeaten.

"We have proved we can compete against the top teams in this division and so we need keep that going.

"I'm proud of our home record, it has become a fortress and no one will enjoy coming to us."
